Leonardo (2015) is a Lusitano gelding standing nearly 17 hands tall. Leo, as he’s known in the barn, has training and show experience in dressage that are great assets in our mounted program. He brings kindness, curiosity, and openness to our equine-assisted psychotherapy and equine-assisted learning sessions, helping our participants to come as they are and be who they are. By gently asking participants to remain engaged and aware, he encourages those with invisible injuries to be present, to respond thoughtfully to challenges, and to build resilience and confidence. Leo, Guinness, and Chance have become fast friends, and enjoy a thorough mutual grooming session out in the field.  “Working with Leo is calming, safe, and nurturing. When Leo first connected with me, I felt an instantaneous grounded energy move all the way through me.”
